Four-quarter planning spread四季度规划

One theme and two practical cards per quarter

The Four-quarter planning spread is an advanced layout for mapping a year in four stages. It uses twelve cards: each quarter receives one theme card and two practical cards for action and limit. It is designed for reflection on where to direct your energy, not for predicting guaranteed outcomes.

This spread suits people who already have a broad sense of their goals but feel unsure how to pace themselves across the year. It helps you notice each quarter's focus, the moves you can make, and the conditions worth preparing for. It is not suitable for medical, legal, investment or gambling questions, and it does not replace professional advice.

Read the cards as a mirror: the theme card names the central question of the quarter, the action card suggests something you can try, and the limit card points to constraints in resources, mood or circumstances. The quarters are not isolated; after reading all four, look for themes that repeat.

Uses all 78 cards by default. You pick a starting month first.

How to read this spread

  • Read the four theme cards first to sense the year's overall direction, then return to the action and limit cards in each quarter.
  • Read each trio together: the action card should be understood against the limit card, not treated as advice in isolation.
  • Compare the four limit cards; repeated elements often point to conditions you will face all year.
  • Turn each action card into one concrete, doable step, write it down, and set a checkpoint within that quarter.
  • If a quarter feels heavy, treat it as a prompt rather than a verdict, and go back to the theme card to re-check priorities.

Questions this spread suits

Common questions

Do I have to draw all twelve cards at once?

Drawing all at once makes it easier to compare the rhythm across quarters. If time is short, draw the four theme cards first and add action and limit cards later.

Can I use a fiscal year instead of a calendar year?

Yes. Q1 to Q4 are just sequence labels. You can define them by your own planning cycle, such as starting from a new job or project launch.

Is a difficult card in the limit position a bad sign?

Not necessarily. The limit card points to conditions worth preparing for. A difficult card often highlights resources or emotional themes to address early, not a fixed failure.
